Stay Housed OC is an online tool to help
Orange County, CA renters and landlords understand their rights and responsibilities to prevent an eviction.

StayHousedOC.org is a joint project of the OC Eviction Diversion Collaborative, led by Orange County United Way. The Collaborative partner organizations provide services such as rental assistance, financial coaching, and job training. We also connect with local experts that offer free legal help and mediation services to eligible tenants who are currently going through the eviction process.

How Evictions Work

Most people don’t think about the legal eviction process until they’re facing an eviction. The process can seem overwhelming and even scary.

If rent and other necessities have become hard to pay for due to job loss, illness, or reduced work hours, you may not be able to afford a lawyer. We have good news: In Orange County, there is a growing network of support that can help you!

How We Can Help

Here are some of the ways we are helping our neighbors navigate the eviction process.

Workshops & Clinics

Attend an in-person or virtual training or clinic to learn more about your rights, your options, and who to contact for assistance.

Legal Help

Connect with a skilled lawyer who can explain your next steps and work alongside you for the best outcome possible.

Mediation Support

Trained volunteer mediators can be a bridge between landlord and tenant, helping them communicate and reach mutually beneficial resolutions, including negotiating move out dates and payment plans.

Resources

Explore videos, training guides, and actual legal forms to help you become as informed and prepared as possible, whether you choose to file your court paperwork yourself or with help from a professional.
